Corrigendum to “Bias and sensitivity in two-interval forced choice procedures: Tests of the difference model” [Vision Research 48 (2008) 1837–1851]

چکیده
1. On p. 1843 we used the formula dFC 1⁄4 ffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffi d 1 þ d 02 2 q instead of the correct formula dFC 1⁄4 ðd 0 1 þ d 0 2Þ= ffiffiffi 2 p (where di, i = 1,2 is the observer’s sensitivity in the ith interval of a 2-IFC trial). The key consequence of this error is that we compute the slope s of the theoretic line in testing our Claim 3 as s 1⁄4 ffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffi 1þ q2 p

متن کاملBias and sensitivity in two-interval forced choice procedures: Tests of the difference model
We assess four common claims concerning the two-interval forced choice (2-IFC) procedure and the standard Difference Model of 2-IFC performance. The first two are (1) that it is unbiased and (2) that the structure of the 2-IFC task does not in itself alter sensitivity. The remaining two concern a claimed 2 enhancement in sensitivity in 2-IFC relative to that measured in a Yes-No task. We review...

متن کاملIs blindsight like normal, near-threshold vision?
Blindsight is the rare and paradoxical ability of some human subjects with occipital lobe brain damage to discriminate unseen stimuli in their clinically blind field defects when forced-choice procedures are used, implying that lesions of striate cortex produce a sharp dissociation between visual performance and visual awareness. Skeptics have argued that this is no different from the behavior ...
متن کاملComparison of pure-tone audibility thresholds obtained with audiological and two-interval forced-choice procedures.
Audibility thresholds were measured at 500 and 4000 Hz with a standard clinical procedure and a two-interval, forced-choice (2IFC) adaptive procedure for 72 normal-hearing and hearing-impaired listeners, age 17 to 83. Psychometric functions were obtained for clinical, 2IFC, and Yes-No procedures. A measure of response bias was obtained from the Yes-No procedure. The 2IFC adaptive thresholds wer...
